Travel Information

The Golf Club is situated above the town of Millport on the island of Cumbrae. A ferry service links the island of Cumbrae to the mainland. The ferry is operated by Caledonian McBrayne (CAL-MAC) and can accommodate both passengers and vehicles.  Ferry travel is from Largs Pier to the Cumbrae Slip with a sailing time of approximately 12 minutes. The frequency of sailings varies from a 15 minute service over the summer months to a 1 hour service in winter. Visitors are advised to check the ferry sailing times by contacting the Caledonian MacBrayne office at Largs (01475 674 134).

While there is no public transport direct from the Cumbrae Slip to the Golf Club, a bus service operates between the Cumbrae Slip and Millport pier, located in the centre of town. This bus service is operated by Cumbrae Coaches (01475 530 692) or Millport Motors (01475 530 555) and is timed to coincide with the ferry service. The bus journey time is approximately 15 minutes.  From Millport pier a taxi may be obtained from either of the two taxi hire companies which operate on the island - Cumbrae Cabs (01475 530 666) or Caldwell's Taxis (01475 530 344).  The journey time by taxi between Millport pier and the Golf Cub is only 2 minutes. It is recommended that taxis be booked in advance The taxi hire firms will also, if required, pick up customers from the Cumbrae Slip. Alternatively, a private coach may be booked in advance from either operator of the bus service.

Visitors bringing their own transport to Cumbrae should proceed from the Cumbrae Slip to Millport town, heading towards the Pierhead at the Royal George Hotel. At the Pierhead follow the road as it veers right into Cardiff Street. At the top of the hill, about 75 yards, turn right off the main road into Golf Road. Millport Golf Club is at the top of Golf Road. Parties travelling by coach are asked to advise Caledonian MacBrayne at Largs Pier prior to the date of travel.
