Gentlemen Ladies Rules

 

Gentlemen

Club Championship - Scratch seven medal play qualifiers from two qualifying rounds (aggregate) and defending champion compete by match play.
The qualifying and match play stages will be played over two separate weekends.

MacAndrew Tankard - Singles – match play

McGregor Trophy - Four-ball – match play

Arthur Shield - Spring and autumn meetings – medal play

Guy Speir Cup and Centenary Trophy - Medal play

MacAndrew Rose Bowls - Lowest net aggregate over 36 hole medal play. Bowl awarded in first and second class

Barr Trophy - Foursomes – 18 holes

Elliott Trophy - Four-ball, better ball stroke play – drawn partners

McLauchlan Shield - Four-ball, better ball stroke play – selected partners

Seniors Trophy – Medal play

John Stewart Memorial Trophy - Ladies and gents – four ball; better ball stroke play – selected partners

Committee Trophy - Confined to members of committee

‘H’ Trophy - Confined to members present at annual dance

Monthly Medal - 18 hole medal play first Saturday of each month; medal awarded in each class

Notice of any other competitions will be posted in the clubhouse locker rooms

 Ballot Times

  7.30 am Ballot will operate from 7.30 am till 8.30 am
  8.00 am Ballot will operate from 8.00 am till 8.30 am
  1.00 pm Ballot will operate from 1.00 pm till 1.30 pm
  4.00 pm Ballot will operate from 4.00 pm till 4.30 pm
  4.30 pm Ballot will operate from 4.30 pm till 5.00 pm
  5.00 pm Ballot will operate from 5.00 pm till 5.30 pm
  5.30 pm Ballot will operate from 5.30 pm till 6.00 pm

Open Ballot – Members may take out cards at any time during competition day. 4-balls allowed during open ballots.

Anne Forsyth - Stableford

Rules of Competitions

1. All competitions will be played on a handicap basis and in accordance with the rules of golf and local rules.
2. If after playing 18 holes a match is drawn, then competitors must continue to play until a hole is won and therefore the match decided.
3.
All dates stipulating the end of competition rounds up to and including final are to be strictly observed.   There will be no extension to the stipulated date for any reason other than:
a) The course being closed due to weather conditions on the last stipulated date in which case an extension will be granted until the close of play on the first following weekend (Sat/Sun) dates on which the course is reopened.
b) In the final, exceptionally, any competitor who finds that he is unable to play by the stipulated date through extenuating circumstances, must bring these circumstances to the immediate attention of the match and handicap committee. The match and handicap committee alone will have the authority to decide whether or not these extenuating circumstances warrant an extension to the stipulated date.

Competitors on entering Club Competitions require to:
a) Have paid their appropriate annual subscription
b) Hold a recognised Club Handicap
5. All ties will be played from the medal tees, Having concluded a match further play should be from the forward tees for the remaining holes.
6. In the event of a tie in a stroke play competition, the result will be decided on a count back.  (Except for the Elliott and McLauchlan and John Stewart Memorial competitions which will be decided by a stroke playoff on competition day).
7. In the event of a tie in the final of a match play competition, the tie will be replayed over 18 holes.   In the event of a further tie play will continue till a hole is won and the match decided.
8. In the event of a tie in the final of the Club Championship (scratch and handicap), play will continue until a hole is won and the match decided.
9. Should a previous winner win a monthly medal competition, the qualifying place will be awarded to the runner up.   Otherwise no qualifying place will be awarded.
10. Undecided Ties: If a tie is not decided or conceded on expiry of the stipulated date the match and handicap committee will decide the result of the tie according to the rules and procedures for challenging.

Procedures for Challenging: The challenger(s) is (are) the first named person (pair) in any round.

12. The challenger(s) will within 14 days offer the opponent(s) the choice of three dates on which to play the tie.  If after 14 days no challenge has been given the opponent(s) will become the challenger(s).
13. There must be a minimum three clear days between that date and the first of three challenge dates.   One of the dates must be during the week and two of the dates at weekends one week apart.  The time of challenge must be outwith normal working hours i.e. 8.am-5pm, unless by the mutual agreement of all the parties concerned.

Winners: The winner(s) is (are) responsible for putting their name(s) forward to the next round.

15. Order of Play: In so far as members competing in a match play competition are concerned a tee-off time should be booked with the starter when arranging the match.

Preferred Lies: During the winter and at other times when authorised by the Committee, preferred lies are defined as:
A ball lying on a closely mown area may be lifted and cleaned without penalty and placed within 6 inches of where it originally lay, but not nearer the hole and so as to preserve, as nearly as possible, the stance required to play from the original lie.  After the ball has so been replaced, it is deemed to be back in play.
17. Handicap for all Competitions: A members current playing handicap is that which appears on the list published by the Committee.
18. Score Cards: Prior to starting, a score card, with the name of the player, the date, and the name of the competition, has to be recorded in the competition book.   The player must return the completed score card, including no returns, signed by player and marker and input the hole by hole score in the computer prior to depositing the score card in the box provided.   Failure to correctly sign score card will result in disqualification from competition.   Score card will be accepted for handicap purposes.
19. Away Scores: Scores, including no returns, recorded in any competition, which is played over a measured course and which is organised by a Club affiliated to the S.G.U. must be entered on the away scores sheet, posted in the locker room together with the details required including the C.S.S. of the competition.  The above  applies only to members who have nominated Millport Golf Club as their home course.
